Kwartet Śląski
The Silesian Quartet / concert and premiere of a record
The repertoire of this ensemble (founded in 1978) includes over 400 works, the majority of which hail from the 20th and 21st centuries. These Silesian chamber musicians have performed nearly 100 world premieres. Their tours have taken them to Europe, the USA, Mexico and Japan. They record frequently. For the Łódź concert they will be performing works from the “Poland Abroad” album. These are works by recently rediscovered Polish composers of Jewish extraction, people whose lives were touched by the war: S. Laks (prisoner in Auschwitz and Dachau, spared through his participation in the camp orchestra), J. Mendelsohn (shot in the Warsaw ghetto) and R. Padlewski (named the “Baczyński of music,” killed during the Warsaw Uprising).
